The Process
Sometimes you need a little something extra special, you know?
Like to have something created just for you! Whether you want to memorialize your bridal bouquet (or any type of significant floral arrangement), or capture a specific feeling/emotion that certain plants invoke, a bespoke floral portrait might be just the thing you’re looking for! Below is a slideshow of floral arrangements and their matching portraits to show you the type of painting I offer as commissioned work, and below that is all the information you’ll likely need to complete your decision. As someone who has commissioned works of art for myself, I understand what an absolute treat a commission can be and I’m so excited that you’re considering becoming a patron of my work!
PRICING
12” x 16” Painting - $510 total
18” x 24” Painting - $874 total
30” x 40” Painting - $1,820 total
36” x 48” Painting - $2,620 total
I require a 50% down payment before I begin a commission. If you’re ready to begin the process, you can go ahead and book your commission! If you’re left with questions that have gone unanswered, feel free to CONTACT me at any time!
TIMELINE
I paint my commissions in the order I receive them. Once I receive the 50% down payment, the form of preferences that you’ll fill out at checkout, and any photos required to make the painting, you can be sure that I’m working as quickly as I can to complete your painting but I can’t create commissions on a deadline. Rushed work often ends up lacking and I want to feel proud of the work that I do. Painting takes a lot of time and even the UV coating that I use takes a couple of weeks to cure fully. Patience will be your friend while waiting for your custom artwork, trust me!
SHIPPING
Besides my affinity for using watercolors as a base layer, I primarily choose to paint on paper because I can roll it in a tube for shipping, which is how it will arrive to you. I suggest that you lay it flat for a few days before framing. Also, shipping is free for commissioned work so the total price you see in the next column truly is the total!
THINGS TO KNOW
First things first, I only create commissions in my own abstract, floral style. The reason to commission an artist for a painting is because you value their work so if it’s a different artist’s work that you really want, go ahead and ask them instead!
Second things second, I paint my paintings on thick, 100% cotton paper that has been handmade in France. I typically begin with a watercolor base and then layer acrylic paint over the top. When the design is finished, I cover it with a satin UV protective varnish, which not only keeps the painting protected but it will keep the colors bright and vibrant for as long as the painting lives.
PREFERENCES
When you checkout with your 50% down payment, a form will pop up that you’ll need to fill out with your preferences. This will get the conversation started about how you’re imagining your bespoke commission to look - colors, from a photo, etc. (Artist’s choice is also an option.)
